WHOM WE ARE

The Congregation of the Missionary of Companions of St. Dunstan (Dunstan Missionaries) was founded in the year 2012 by Rev. Fr. John Chukwuma J. Okafor, CP, a Passionist Priest with a heart full of love and compassion for the mentally challenged, the sick and the abandoned in the society.
The Congregation received its canonical decree and Ecclesiastical approval by The Most. Rev. Vincent Sowah Boinai, SVD, the Bishop of Yendi Diocese.

Our Mission is care for the mentally challenged in the society, and the sick, offering rehabilitation, spiritual and pastoral care and life long support to our brothers and sisters that are mentally challenged and abandoned in the society.

Our priests serve in various parish and pastoral ministries in various Archdioceses and Dioceses around the world and institutions like School chaplaincy, Prison chaplaincy, Hospital and Hopsice Chaplaincy.

Formation

Preparing men for a life of prayer, formation, and mission

Our formation journey combines prayer, study, community life, and pastoral preparation.

Aspirancy & Postulancy

This is the initial stage of discernment. Aspirants begin exploring their vocation through prayer, community life, and spiritual guidance. Postulants then enter more formally, learning the values, mission, and daily rhythm of the congregation.

Philosophical Studies

Candidates engage in academic formation, studying philosophy to deepen their understanding of human nature, ethics, and reason. This foundation prepares them to think critically and dialogue meaningfully with the world.

Novitiate

A sacred year of spiritual immersion. Novices live more fully the religious life, embracing silence, prayer, and study of the congregation’s charism. It’s a time of deep interior growth and commitment.

Theological Studies

This final academic stage prepares candidates for ordained ministry. They study Scripture, Church doctrine, liturgy, and pastoral theology—equipping them to serve as compassionate and knowledgeable shepherds.
